If ever there were a time that I wanted to work topless while photographing a wedding, it was for Teddy and Alisha’s day. I can’t tell how appealing the thought of shedding clothes sounded. The poor guys in their suits! We won’t mention what the heat index was before the ceremony when we were shooting outside, because you would think I’m a jerk for doing any photos outside. And I kind of was. But that’s all in the past now, right??? And once we got acclimated out there it wasn’t THAT bad. Aaron and Alyssa's engagement session on the campus of UNI kept us all on our toes throughout the night! My first ever visit to UNI's campus was pretty comical, really. :) First, Aaron has a stain on one of the few visible parts of his white dress shirt. The plan was to shoot in the Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center to represent their mutual passion for music, but there were students building a set on the stage there, so we were relegated to Davis Hall (I believe), which was far less inspiring . . . if we're honest! Connor and Crissie are two of the most chill people you will meet, and it was a pleasure to document their wedding day amongst their family and friends. Crissie may not declare herself "chill" all the time, because she admitted on the wedding day that her brain was fried from the week of preparations, so I can't be 100% sure who the real Crissie is. Drake and Paige scored a legitimately perfect Saturday in June for their wedding day. Drake might have told you that it could have been 10 degrees cooler, but we're still calling it perfect. They enjoyed the convenience of having both their wedding ceremony and reception at the DoubleTree in downtown Cedar Rapids, which was awesome! Having getting ready, photo ops, ceremony and reception all within a block is a beautiful thing that I highly recommend if you can make it happen. Bug Soother. We'll just start this one off with Bug Soother. Why do the gnats in eastern Iowa have to be soooo bad?? Honestly, I'm getting tired of editing them out of every single photo! But, let's all give thanks for Bug Soother, which makes it actually possible to be outside this time of year.
