I loved Mike & Ellie’s wedding day—two wonderful people, surrounded by the love of family and friends . . . who also happen to know how to have a great time. I think what I loved most about this day is that the men involved were not afraid of letting the tears fall. It’s a beautiful thing when all pride is set aside and you’re free to fully exist in each moment. I love it. And that’s the way it should be during a once in a lifetime wedding day. We started the day getting ready at the DoubleTree in downtown Cedar Rapids. When Ellie put on that wedding dress, she straight up broke down the two most important men in her life—her father and her soon-to-be husband. What a privilege to be a part of those moments! Mike and Ellie had an early afternoon wedding ceremony at St Ludmila Catholic Church. Afterward, we traveled back downtown for photos of the newly minted couple and their fine looking wedding party.
The wedding reception was at Eastbank Venue and Lounge in Cedar Rapids, and it was the first time that we have had the privilege of shooting there. Adam and his team have done a beautiful job of putting that space together. The venue offers a unique and stylish reception solution for couples that is not common for the area, and the service they offer is what puts everything over the top. We’ll look forward to shooting there many more times in the future, because that downtown, city vibe is right up our alley. Mike and Ellie, you guys are awesome. Thank you for allowing us to document these beautiful memories for you guys. I hope that you will always treasure them as the two of you enjoy a lifetime of love and happiness together!
