I think . . . well, I KNOW we have never driven on as many gravel roads for a wedding as we did for Lynn and Karla’s wedding. The most populous area we visited throughout the day was Houghton, Iowa (pop. 146) where their wedding ceremony was at St. Paul’s Church. The rest of the day we spent photographing out in open fields, or at their family’s country estates. They had the reception inside Karla’s parents’ machine shop and it was a super blank canvas they were working with there. To their credit, they built some pretty sweet custom pieces to warm up the space and lean into the country theme of the day. The space ended up fitting their large guest list perfectly, and I can say confidently that everyone had a great time. I love it when couples don’t go by the book when planning their wedding. It’s cool when they try different things that really reflect their personalities and lifestyle, because it’s fun to shoot new things and document stories that are unique to each couple. Lynn and Karla, thank you for choosing us to be the wedding photographers that documented your story! We’ll look forward to sharing the rest of the photos with you soon!
