In Love: Nathan & Jami Engagement Session

Engagements

We made a whirlwind trip up to Chicago recently and this engagement session was one of the results. Nathan and Jami are getting married in Kansas City in the fall, but they’re calling Chicago home. This was our first chance to finally meet each other, so the pressure was on to make a good first impression and then smoothly transition into a killer photo shoot. 🙂 We shot on and around the campus of Loyola University, which gave us plenty of nice spots to shoot without the downtown hustle and bustle. Obviously Chicago in the winter is going to be cold, so we got more of the arctic Lake Michigan look instead of the beachy summer feel. Holy crap I love the arctic! I’m completely in love with the simple backdrop, letting their style and love take precedence. Jami was an absolute warrior out there—yes those are short sleeves and heels, and yes, that is two feet of snow she is standing in! Not to fear, she had a winter coat and snow boots on in the “in-between” moments, but absolutely insisted that she was not going to be wearing them while the camera was pointed in her direction. Jami, I hope you didn’t suffer from pneumonia or frost bitten toes! I assume your thank you email means that at least your fingers are good to go.
